district_nurse.jpgSpecialist Nurse Run Minor Illness Clinic – these run Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday mornings and Monday afternoons with nurse Cindy Windsor. Appointment only – bookable only on the day or from 16:00 the previous day

General Health advice – including diet, smoking, alcohol, stress, exercise and healthy living. With the nursing team by appointment.

Breast Screening - we offer mammograms as part of the NHS Breast Screening Programme. All female patients aged between 50-65 years will be automatically invited to attend the mobile breast screening unit at South Molton. If you fall outside these age groups but believe yourself to be at increased risk of breast cancer please discuss this with your doctor, as in some circumstances you may be included. If you have concerns and queries about the service please discuss this with your doctor or one of the practice nurses.

Contraceptive Advice

Cervical Smears - You can then make an appointment with the practice nurse for this. Smears are usually done every 3 years for women aged 24-50 and every 5 years from age 50-64, and we strongly encourage you have this check. The results can however take 2-4 weeks to be returned to us.

Asthma Clinic – with Pam Hodgkins by appointment.

COPD Clinic – with Cindy Windsor by appointment.   You will be invited to attend annually during the month of your birth. 

Diabetic Clinic – with Ruth Henry by appointment.  You will be invited to attend annually during the month of your birth. 

Healthy Heart Clinic – including Stroke and other Vascular Disease with our healthcare assistants by appointment.  You will be invited to attend annually during the month of your birth. 

Blood Pressure Checks  - all the team but in particular our healthcare assistants Teresa Rayfield or Juliet Squire, by appointment.

Blood Tests (Phlebotomy) – with our healthcare assistants, by appointment.  You may still go to North Devon District Hospital to have a blood test if you prefer.  These are held at the Phlebotomy Dept on Level 2 between 9.00 am and 5.00 pm Monday to Friday. Patients will need to take the appropriate forms with them.

Minor Surgery and Cryotherapy - we are happy and able to perform a wide range of minor surgical procedures from removal of skin lesions to ingrowing toe nails. Please ask at reception for details.

Drug Abuse Services - some of our staff have received special training in the management of drug abuse and we welcome patients with problems relating to drug abuse. We work in close liaison with North Devon’s drug abuse service based at the Quay Centre in Barnstaple. Please make an appointment to see Dr Payne if you would like to discuss these issues further.

Smoking Cessation - to register an interest in attending the sessions with our smoking cessation advisor Teresa Rayfield please telephone reception (01769 573811) and you will be offered an appointment.
